Featured Online Store - Yesasia.com

I am a big fan for Japanese animation and video game OSTs yet the only source of such items could only be found on eBay.com when I first started shopping on the internet. Thankfully for Yesasia.com, I now have access to a wide variety of the such products to choose from. Yesasia has been in operations since 1998 and probably followed the footsteps of Amazon.com, although its operations are no-where close. The online retailer offers a wide range of Asian products (Japanese, Chinese & Korean) for internet shoppers from Otaku lovers, to drama-serial Aunties and customers who are crazy of Asian media. My experience with Yesasia did not started off too well mainly due to their horrendous packaging although their shipping time (to Australia) was acceptable. Anyhow, Yesasia has improved their overall shipping over the years and even expanded their operations to Seoul & Tokyo (they originally started out from Hong Kong).

Currently, Yeasia are having some annual clearance sale and I highly recommend all Onioms to have look and perhaps you might make it in time for Xmas!

Top Online Retailer for Oct'08

To kick off the my blog with some credible information, here's a summary of the Top 10 Online Retailers for the month of October 2008 in the US. I am not surprise to see Amazon not in the Top 10 yet again since December 2007. This probably reflects a change in trend as to how customers are spending their dollar over the internet. I would probably think that most of the internet shoppers are getting smarter and more selective to what they want to buy. Hence instead of heading to big online retailers like Best Buys & Amazon, these smart shoppers search for online stores that offer what they need/want. At the same time, the current world of internet offers lesser barriers of entry for smaller stores to setup shop and offer their wares. Furthermore, these shops do know that the internet is the next logical step to expand their business (and revenue for the matter). So I guess its a win-win situation for both sides.

The last chart shows the breakdown of money spent by "ionioms" (my term for internet shoppers - refer to oniomanicas). No surprise there - Computer Hardware for the geeks, me included! LOL

Howdy!

My very first blog post! To be honest I am not exactly a big fan when it comes to the idea of blogging. At the beginning, blogging was more of a publicised journal and openly abused by many netizens. However, a new wave of bloggers entered the arena and used blogging as medium to share interesting things to others (not just personal private thoughts but interesting news which could be knowledge to others!!). This culture has changed my view on blogging hence so here I am, excited to kick-start this exciting journey.

My blog will touch on the exciting world of internet shopping on the www. Many of you probably have transacted on the internet. From eBay, to Amazon etc etc. However, there are many other online retailers out there with wonderful deals or products you probably never heard of. I plan to share hopefully as much news of my finds to all the boys & girls (Yes, we are like little kids when it comes to shopping) and eventually you can pass on the information to your friends, family, colleagues...

I will try to refrain from the plain vanilla vendors ala Amazon, Best-buys and gang unless there is an awesome sale that have to be brought to your attention. My recommendations can of course be biased but aren't we all impartial little creatures when it comes to shopping...heh

So let the fun begin and unleash that oniomaniac of yours!
